NBA News: Heat’s Chris Bosh Expected To Return Next Season
The Miami Heat were recently knocked out of the NBA playoffs with the Toronto Raptors coming out on top against Dwyane Wade and company in Game 7 of their second-round series. The result of the series with the Raptors may have been drastically different if the Heat had perennial All-Star Chris Bosh in the lineup, but unfortunately, health issues were a problem once again.
Bosh’s health has been a major issue over the last two seasons with the veteran forward having a blood clot scare that not only threatened his basketball career but his life. Although it appeared as though Bosh may have played his last game in the NBA, the two-time NBA champion might have some light at the end of the tunnel, according to ESPN’s Dan Le Batard via Dan Feldman of Pro Basketball Talk:
“I just got a text saying that Bosh should be able to play next season. So, the Heat expect Bosh to be able to play next season.”
Along with Bosh dealing with health issues and an uncertain future, Pat Riley and company face a tough task heading into the NBA offseason. The Heat will have the majority of the team’s roster hitting the free-agent market this summer with no certainty they’ll all return.
Hassan Whiteside and Wade are the team’s top priorities regarding their current roster while Miami also intends to make a run at superstar forward Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
If the Heat can retain Whiteside, Wade, and Joe Johnson, the addition of Durant would potentially put Miami over the top in the Eastern Conference. The Heat would be legitimate contenders against LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers and Bosh returning makes this team that much better for the foreseeable future.
