Paul George Talks About Failed Pacers-Warriors Trade Involving Klay Thompson

The Indiana Pacers made a move that no one saw coming during this NBA offseason. Superstar Paul George had let it be known that he wanted out of Indiana forcing the team to make a trade, but where he landed was a shock, to say the least.

George, who was hoping to join the Los Angeles Lakers, ended up in the Western Conference with the Oklahoma City Thunder to play alongside Russell Westbrook. However, the Pacers did try to trade him to the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors in exchange for sharpshooter Klay Thompson, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski:

Before All-Star forward Paul George was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder last month, the Indiana Pacers talked to the Golden State Warriors and offered him for Klay Thompson, a source told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Although it seems intriguing on paper, the Warriors are content with their roster and trade talks didn’t last long apparently. George actually knew the Pacers had reached out to the Warriors and spoke about it with Wojnarowski:

“I would’ve looked forward to it, of just being in a good situation and a chance to compete for a championship,” he told Wojnarowski. “But it didn’t happen. It’s still fun to team up with a special talent and have a chance to compete against that team.”

Once the dust settled, and the Pacers had officially moved on from George, the perennial All-Star will now share the spotlight with a reigning NBA MVP in Westbrook. Whether or not that superstar pairing works in Oklahoma City remains to be seen, but there’s a chance it might, and George may have found a new long-term home.
