Warriors to be careful with Stephen Curry moving forward
Golden State Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry underwent an MRI that confirmed that he suffered a pelvic contusion and no structural damage.
The injury occurred in the third quarter of the Warriors’ win over the Toronto Raptors after he lost his balance colliding with a Raptors player while driving to the basket. He landed on his back and then headed directly to the locker room.
Curry missed the start of the Warriors’ six-game road trip, which featured them losing the opener to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night. The team is hopeful that his back will improve ahead of Monday’s reevaluation.
Curry is amid another highly productive campaign, averaging 24.2 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.4 rebounds while shooting 44.7 percent from the floor and 39.4 percent from beyond the arc.
Golden State will likely take the precautionary route with Curry given his importance to their playoff push. The Warriors currently sit in the sixth spot, only a half-game ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves staying out of the play-in tournament.

Curry is expected to rejoin the team before Tuesday’s game in Miami, where Jimmy Butler will play his first game against the Miami Heat since being traded. The Warriors have found their groove with Butler, winning 16 out of their first 19 games with him in the lineup.
If Curry misses additional time, Butler will continue to assume the primary scorer role. In 19 games, he is averaging 17.6 points, 6.5 assists, and 6.1 rebounds while shooting 43.8 percent from the floor.
