Rumors Circulating Involving Paul George’s Future With Pacers
The Indiana Pacers may be in danger of losing a superstar. Perennial All-Star forward Paul George isn’t happy with his current situation in Indiana as he doesn’t believe he has the talent around him to win a championship and if things don’t change he may leave in NBA free agency.
With George threatening to leave Indiana, the Pacers brass has started to gauge trade interest in their face of the franchise. Although it seems doubtful George will be moved before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, Larry Bird and company are seeing what they might get for George if that have to trade him, via ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne:
Sources say numerous interested teams around the league, furthermore, believe the Pacers have been fielding calls on George in recent days more to get a detailed read of the market for potential down-the-road deals as opposed to a serious intent to trade George this week.
The NBA trade deadline is 12 p.m. PST on Thursday with George being arguably the biggest name potentially on the move. Jimmy Butler (Chicago Bulls), Carmelo Anthony (New York Knicks), Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers), and Jahlil Okafor (Philadelphia 76ers) are a few other notable names that could be dealt before the deadline.
Butler, along with George, has been linked to the Boston Celtics. Danny Ainge’s squad has more tradeable assets than most teams with many believing they may try to bolster their roster for a deep playoff run by using their stockpile of draft picks.
The Los Angeles Lakers are also rumored to be a potential team in the running for George and Butler. The newly appointed president of basketball operations, Magic Johnson, has been a busy man and may try to make the bold move of trading for one of these superstars before the deadline.
