Big Ten Men’s Basketball Preseason Rankings

Friday, Nov. 14 is tip off for the 2014 – 2015 NCAA men’s basketball season. Kicking off the year we will see Kentucky face Grand Canyon and Arizona face Mount St. Mary’s. While basketball fans of all ages recovered from busted brackets, the teams were prepping for the the upcoming season and giving themselves the best shot possible at being named the National Champions.

While Kentucky and Arizona are ranked 1 and 2, respectively in the AP preseason poll. Within the rest of the rankings, the Big Ten is showing up big time in the rest of the top 25. Wisconsin ranked 3 right behind Kentucky and Arizona and is expected to do really well again this year. Wisconsin made it to the Final Four last year and with the talent that they have coming back, there is a real chance that they could be contenders.

In the bottom half of the top 25, Michigan St. (18), Ohio State (20), Nebraska (21) and Michigan (24). Iowa, Minnesota, Maryland and Illinois all received votes as well.

Nine total teams from the Big Ten have received preseason votes from the AP and definitely makes it a great possibility that the conference could have at least one team make it to the final four, possibly even win the entire league. The additions of Maryland and Rutgers to the Big Ten will make for interesting match-ups, especially with the other teams that received AP votes.

Could this be the year that a team from the Big Ten finally wins the title? There is plenty of basketball to play but right now the odds appear to be in the Big Ten’s favor.
