NFC East Still Up For Grabs
The Philadelphia Eagles may have defeated the Dallas Cowboys earlier in the season in Texas, but this is a very different Cowboys team than the one they faced back in Week 1.
The game was not really about vengeance for the Cowboys. They were more focused on the playoff implications. With the win, the Cowboys are now in control of the NFC East with only two weeks left in the season.
The Cowboys are proving that they are worthy of the playoffs and are in the process of doing away with their reputation as a team that chokes when it matters the most.
They are 7-0 on the road this season; it has not been a cakewalk schedule either, considering they have gone up against the Seattle Seahawks this season.
Dallas now have their eyes set on the top seed. Of course, getting the top seed also depends how other potential top seeds perform in the final two weeks, but make no mistake that the Cowboys are planning for the best-case scenario.
The Eagles have now dropped two important games in a row. They have a 9-5 record and missing the playoffs is not out of the realm of possibility.
The Eagles lose games when they let other teams offenses dictate the pace of the game, which is evident by the Cowboys dominating the time of possession. Defense is not Philadelphia’s strong suite, but if they want to be a legit contender they are going to have to find a way to deal with that problem.
The Eagles can still overtake the Cowboys in the NFC East. The Cowboys have the Indianapolis Colts next, while the Eagles have two teams that are struggling for their final two games, the Washington Redskins and New York Giants. This means there is a real shot for the Eagles to get into the playoffs as the top team in the NFC East and not just a wildcard.
