2021 NFL win totals: 5 best UNDER bets to make

Looking at the 2021 NFL win totals, we make the case for the five best under bets on the board going into training camp.

5. New Orleans Saints (9)

You’re going to see a common theme with the 2021 NFL win totals for these 5 teams. The Saints don’t have a settled situation under center, with Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston providing an underwhelming battle for the top spot on the depth chart. While Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas are elite weapons, the defense lost plenty this offseason with Sheldon Rankins, Janoris Jenkins and Trey Frederickson leaving in free agency. The NFC South also is tough enough to give the Saints some issues.

4. Denver Broncos (7.5)

The Broncos have one of the better rosters in the league. Denver’s defense is legitimately a top-five unit, and the offense has star playmakers in receivers Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick. However, neither Drew Lock or Teddy Bridgewater are scaring anybody. And, in the AFC West, the Broncos will be lucky to beat the Kansas City Chiefs or Los Angeles Chargers once with their lack of quality quarterback play. Denver has a team that could win, but Lock/Bridgewater will sink the ship.

3. Philadelphia Eagles (6.5)

Philadelphia has the benefit of being in the NFC East, which almost kept it off this list. However, the Eagles are simply a bad team without much upside. The front seven is the strength of the team, but the secondary is largely a mess while the offense has second-year man Jalen Hurts taking snaps. Hurts was alright as a rookie in limited action, but paired with a first-year head coach in Nick Sirianni, there’s plenty that could — and likely will — go wrong.

2. Pittsburgh Steelers (8.5)

The Steelers haven’t had a losing season since Mike Tomlin took over following the 2006 season. The line out of Vegas is making you bet on which side of .500 Pittsburgh will land on, and despite Tomlin’s track record, expect the under. The Steelers lost a ton in free agency and retirements, leaving them with a poor offensive line and lesser defense. Factor in the rapidly-deteriorating Ben Roethlisberger, and the Steelers are the third-best team in the AFC North.

1. New England Patriots (9)

Mac Jones or Cam Newton? Who can say. Beyond the quarterback competition, the roster remains a graveyard for top talent even after a wild free agency. The Patriots added tight ends Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith, and receivers Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor, but who scares a defense? The Patriots made a ton of moves but did they truly get better?
