49ers finally come to terms on massive deal for Brandon Aiyuk

After months of uncertainty, the San Francisco 49ers finally resolved their long-standing contract situation with star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk by agreeing to a four-year, $120 million extension.

The deal includes $76 million guaranteed and $47 million to be paid before April 1, 2025. Aiyuk becomes the fifth-highest-paid receiver in the league, with an average annual salary of $30 million per season.

“We were thrilled to draft Brandon in 2020 and are now equally excited to have him in the fold for years to come,” said 49ers general manager John Lynch in a statement via CBS Sports. “Brandon is a special talent who is a warrior on the field and plays with a passion that we look for in 49ers. We look forward to Brandon continuing to be part of what we strive to accomplish as an organization.”

Before the contract, there was chatter that the 49ers considered trading Aiyuk, with the Pittsburgh Steelers remaining prominent as the primary landing spot.

However, San Francisco never moved toward working out a deal because it was headstrong in its demand to acquire a Pro Bowl talent wide receiver in return.

Aiyuk is coming off his best season, where he led the team with 1,342 receiving yards while finishing ninth in the league with 83.9 receiving yards per game and second with 17.9 yards per catch, all of which helped him capture a second-team All-Pro selection.

The 49ers’ next move is to secure Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams a new long-term deal.
