49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo says ‘every day gets easier and easier’ in injury rehab
Since suffering a torn ACL last season in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has continued on his path toward returning toward full strength.
This has ramped up over the last several weeks that has seen him participate in the early stages of the offseason workout program Garoppolo has voiced that he has been encouraged by the progress that he has made this far in his recovery from the injury, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.
“It’s very good to be throwing again,†Garoppolo said. “It’s what I do. It’s encouraging. Every day gets easier and easier, able to make this throw better than I was a week ago. It’s small victories like that. Throughout this whole process, it’s all about small victories.”
This progress certainly falls in line with the team’s plan to have him ready by Week 1 of the 2019 season. He is expected to wear a brace over the surgically-repaired ACL for that game.
The fact that he is already throwing is a significant step forward, while he is also expected to be a full participant in training camp that will begin later this offseason. In the meantime, his activity during this portion of workouts is quite encouraging for the team.
At the same time, this is a situation that the team will continue to monitor closely moving forward given his importance their long-term plans as the franchise quarterback. This is simply another part of the process for Garoppolo to be ready for the start of the 2019 season.
