Aaron Glenn becomes the new head coach of the Jets
After a lengthy head coach search, the New York Jets have hired Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as their next head coach.
Glenn becomes the 19th head coach in Jets history after agreeing to a reported five-year contract.
“I’m excited to welcome Aaron Glenn home as the head coach of the New York Jets,” team chairman Woody Johnson said via ESPN. “Aaron earned this opportunity through almost three decades of NFL experience — 10 with us as a player and a scout. He brings tremendous leadership skills and the vision this organization needs to be successful. I am thrilled to see him lead this team.”
The Jets are hoping that Glenn can finally bring the franchise stability and end its 14-year playoff hiatus, which is the longest such postseason drought across the four major men’s sports leagues in the United States.
Glenn played a major part in helping the Lions become a powerhouse in the NFC over the last two seasons. His departure leaves a massive void that Detroit will need to replace.

Glenn’s arrival also quickly shifts over to the future of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who voiced that the next head coach hiring would play a significant factor in his return if he does play in 2025.
If the team does move on Rodgers or he retires, the organization will need to immediately address their future under center. Only Tyrod Taylor and 2024 fifth-round selection Jordan Travis will be the remaining options.
Unless the organization is flat-out confident in Travis, the franchise will look elsewhere to find their next franchise cornerstone.
