Aaron Rodgers believes Packers ‘in big trouble’ if they ‘freak out’ after Week 1

The Green Bay Packers began the 2021 season off to a rough start. After a summer of controversy with Rodgers, they got off to a disappointing 38-3 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

The loss quickly shifted plenty of attention toward the Packers.

After the lopsided defeat, Rodgers voiced no concern about the team as it was only one game. The 37-year-old doubled down on that notion as he voiced that it would be a discouraging sign if the team is concerned about that.

“If we’re starting to freak out after one week,” Rodgers said Thursday via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “we’re in big trouble.”

It isn’t Rodgers’ first rodeo by any means, as he’s experienced many disappointing performances and has bounced back from the outings. His play was a huge reason for the team’s struggles in Week 1 action, as it was quite evident his time away from the team this offseason built up plenty of rust.

Rodgers struggled to move the ball effectively down the field. He completed 15-of-28 passes for 133 yards with two interceptions and held a 36.8 passer rating. It was an extremely uncharacteristic performance from the future Hall of Famer.

His lack of concern toward the situation demonstrates his focus on the bigger picture ahead. Rodgers and the Packers will have the opportunity to bounce back on Monday night against the Detroit Lions. In 22 career games against the Lions, he holds a 17-5 record with 5,662 passing yards, 46 touchdown passes to eight interceptions, and a 106.2 passer rating.
