Aaron Rodgers says Jets have ‘legitimate chance’ to reach the Super Bowl
The New York Jets showed they were a talented football team last season, with a defense that is in the running for one of the best in the NFL.
Along with a formidable defense, New York saw wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall become household names in the Big Apple, which obviously bodes well for their future.
Unfortunately, the quarterback room was seriously lacking until they recently brought in four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers, who believes the team now has the ability to reach the Super Bowl this season via ESPN.
“Obviously, there are a lot of expectations,” said Rodgers, adding that the Jets have “a legitimate chance” to reach the Super Bowl. “A lot of people are going to be pulling for us to fall flat — the crows as [Robert] Saleh referred to them” — a reference to the coach’s opening speech in “Hard Knocks,” in which he spoke to the players about the naysayers.
“A lot of people are in our corner, too,” Rodgers said. “Which is a good thing.”
With high expectations comes a lot of criticism and very little room for error, which Rodgers knows all too well from his days competing as a legitimate title contender with the Green Bay Packers.
“There will be a lot of eyes on us,” Rodgers said of the season ahead. “That could be pressure to some people, that could be expectation, it could be excitement. I choose to look at it as excitement. There’s a lot of people that are going to be tuning in, a lot of people are going to be following along throughout our season. A lot of people are going to have a lot to cheer about, I think.”

It’ll be interesting to see how it all comes together in New York and whether Rodgers was truly the missing piece to the championship puzzle, as this team will have its work cut out for them in a highly competitive division and conference.
