Aaron Rodgers wants to return to the Jets next season
The New York Jets are floundering to another disappointing season, but it appears star quarterback Aaron Rodgers may be under center in 2025.
The four-time league MVP confirmed as much this week by indicating that he plans on giving it another go around next year.
“I think so, yeah,” he said Wednesday via ESPN.
Rodgers has one more year left in his contract that possesses a $23.5 million cap hit. His return could significantly impact the Jets’ head coach hiring process as it would change the team’s short-term future plans.

New York will also face serious questions concerning other notable roster decisions, including star wide receiver Davante Adams’ contract situation as the last two years of his five-year, $140 million deal are voidable.
Since returning from a torn Achilles last season, Rodgers has struggled to recapture his high level of performance. He has dealt with nagging hamstring, knee, and ankle injuries, which have contributed to his often lackluster play as he sits 24th with a 52.0 total QBR and a career-worst 6.4 yards per attempt along with 15 touchdown passes and seven interceptions.
All of that has contributed to the Jets holding a 3-7 record on the brink of being entirely out of the playoff picture. New York has dropped six out of their last seven games.
The Jets face a daunting uphill battle to get back into the playoff picture with a challenging remaining schedule that features the Miami Dolphins twice, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams, and Seattle Seahawks.
