AFC East: Who Wants It?

Six games into the season, the AFC East has accomplished absolutely nothing. Wait, what? That’s right. The entire division is 3-3. Every team is tied for first. Every team is tied for last. No team in the division has a winning record. No team has a losing record.

We’ve seen the New York Jets look awful at times, to the point of being booed at home and nearly having a quarterback controversy. Yet, they are in no worse shape than they were at the start of the season. In fact, they have wins over the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins, so they might be in better shape than everyone else in the division.

The New England Patriots, thought to be the hands down best team in the division, have not separated themselves at all. They just blew a game in Seattle last week to fall back to the pack.

The Miami Dolphins are 3-3 and lost two overtime heart-breakers. They could easily be 5-1 right now with their rookie quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, getting better every week.

Last year all four teams in the AFC West ended up at either 8-8 or 7-9. The AFC East may be a division much like that this season. It’s anybody’s to win.

Let’s look at this week’s games. Intertops has odds on this week’s games:

Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills– Tennessee is +3 2.05 or 2.65. The Bills are -3 1.80 or 1.53. Over/under is 46.5. We like the Titans coming off a big win over the Steelers. We don’t think the Bills can stand prosperity. They are due to lose.

New York Jets at New England Patriots– If the Bills lose, then this game is for the lead. The Dolphins are off this week. The Jets with a win would have one over every team in the division, two of them on the road. They would really be in good shape, considering they’d be a team one game up with nine to play. The Jets are a whopping +10.5 1.91. What? They are also 5.10 straight up. WOW! Two 3-3 teams going at it and these are the odds? New England is -10.5 1.91 or 1.18. We like the Jets in this one. We even like them straight up to win $510.00 on a $100.00 bet. That’s worth taking a risk.
