Titans have no plans to trade A.J. Brown away
Despite constant murmurs, the Tennessee Titans say they have no interest in trading away star receiver A.J. Brown.
A.J. Brown is a dominant force. And according to one important figure with the Tennessee Titans, he won’t be playing elsewhere any time soon.
Despite rumors of Brown being on the block with only one year remaining on his contract, the star receiver’s situation has been clarified. On The Rich Eisen Show this Thursday, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel addressed the topic of moving Brown. Via NFL.com:

“Not as long as I’m the head coach. IÂ love A.J. professionally, personally. I’ve gotten to know him well as his coach and enjoy seeing him as much as I possibly can. Saw him here working out here earlier, said hi. As long as I’m the coach here, I would want to have A.J. Brown on my football team.”
Brown is easily the best receiver on the Titans, even with the trade to acquire Robert Woods from the Los Angeles Rams back in March. In his three seasons with Tennessee, Browns racked up 2,995 receiving yards with 24 touchdowns.
After posting consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in his first two campaigns, Brown missed four games in 2021 but still managed to collect 63 receptions for 869 yards and five scores. His contributions helped the injury-racked Titans to 12 wins and the AFC’s top seed. However, Tennessee fell in the AFC Divisional round in a 19-16 upset loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, despite Brown totaling five catches for 142 yards and a touchdown.

Yet while Vrabel’s affection for Brown is both important and noted, Tennessee general manager Jon Robinson still needs to figure the best path forward. The Titans are slated to have a tight cap situation in 2023 and are without rollover money from this offseason.
Based off the contracts we’ve seen for Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill over recent weeks, along with the exploding cap in upcoming years, Brown is likely going to be looking for $25+ million annually. And while his numbers don’t compare to that of Hill and Adams, he also plays in a run-heavy system without a quarterback such as Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers.
Brown appears entrenched in Tennessee right now, but keep an eye on the situation. If the Titans fail to have substantial contract negotiations regarding their star, things could change rapidly.
