Bears star Justin Fields injures throwing shoulder in loss to Falcons

The Chicago Bears fell to another crushing loss on Sunday afternoon to the Atlanta Falcons.

The disappointment didn’t stop there as quarterback Justin Fields suffered an injury to his non-throwing shoulder on the first play of the Bears’ final drive. The injury occurred after he landed hard on his left shoulder out of bounds after being tackled and received another hit to that area moments later on the same drive.

Fields remained in the game, but after the loss, he voiced that he was experiencing pain.

“I was hurting but it was the last drive of the game,” Fields said via ESPN. “I was just trying to be there for my teammates and fight through the pain.”

The 23-year-old received an x-ray after the game and didn’t need to wear a sling during his postgame press conference. Head coach Matt Eberflus stated there will be clarity on that front by Wednesday.

“We will have an update on Wednesday,” Eberflus said. “We don’t know what exactly it is, that’s why we are going to take a look at it.”

The Bears or Fields didn’t express significant concern, but it appears that it’s an injury the quarterback will have to work through moving forward this season.

In his second campaign, Fields has shown some promising signs behind his ability to make plays with his legs. However, there remains much room for improvement as a passer, as he ranks 26th with 1,642 passing yards and holds an 86.2 passer rating.

The Bears are set to face the New York Jets in Week 12 action.
