Bears to make a decision on QB situation in Chicago

The Chicago Bears made a bold move during the NFL offseason by trading for one-time Super Bowl champion Nick Foles. The move immediately put pressure on Mitchell Trubisky. As well as that, it led many to believe that Foles would eventually take over under center.

During Week 3’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, Foles got the nod after Trubisky struggled. The results were what the Bears brass was hoping for. Foles led the team from behind to throw three fourth-quarter touchdowns and get the win on the road.

Now the team has a decision to make on whether to stick with Foles or give Trubisky another chance in Week 3. Head coach Matt Nagy explained the decision to make the switch and what they will do to determine the next step, via Pro Football Talk.

“Sometime, you have to go with your gut,” Nagy said, explaining that the decision came in the moment, based on the fact that the offense under Trubisky was struggling on third down and in the red zone. “It’s a feel you get as things go on.”

He said that he explained the move to Trubisky as tactical. “None of it is personal,” Nagy said he told Trubisky. “It’s all task-related.”

Nagy said that when the team returns to Chicago later tonight, he’ll huddle with the offensive coaches “to figure out where they are moving forward.”

Foles immediately made an impact when he was put in the game and the final result was a come-from-behind win. As a result, the writing may be on the wall in Chicago in terms of what the team really wants to do moving forward.

It could very well be Foles’ team for the rest of the way during the 2020 campaign.
