Bills superstar Josh Allen wins first NFL MVP award
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen secured his first MVP award after edging out reigning MVP Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Allen is coming off another highly productive campaign that saw him finish with 4,269 passing yards with 41 total touchdowns, making him the first player in league history to notch five straight seasons with 40-plus total touchdowns.
“I’d like to think the Bills organization, Terry and Kim Pegula, Brandon Beane, Sean McDermott, thank you guys for drafting me seven and a half years ago. It feels just like yesterday, it really does. I know this is an individual award and it says Most Valuable Player on it, but I think it’s derived from team success, and I love my team,” Allen said via Buffalobills.com.
Allen narrowly edged out Jackson to secure his first MVP award with 383 total points with the Ravens star quarterback garnering 362 points. The difference came with Allen garnering a 27-23 edge in first-place votes.
Although Allen made a compelling case to earn the MVP award, Jackson certainly could have secured the prestigious honor for a second straight year and third time overall.

The MVP voting results came with a bit of surprise given that Jackson finished with 30 of the 50 first-team All-Pro votes while Allen received 18. It marked the first time since 2012, when Adrian Peterson won the MVP, that a first-team All-Pro quarterback didn’t earn the honor.
Jackson became the first player to record 4,000 passing yards and at least 800 rushing yards in a single season.
