Browns fire 2-time NFL Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski

Following a disappointing 2025 season, the Cleveland Browns decided to part ways with head coach Kevin Stefanski after six seasons.

The Browns are coming off their fourth consecutive losing season under Stefanski, which ended with a 5-12 record, putting them in a second straight last-place finish in the AFC North. He guided the team to two playoff appearances and their first playoff win in 26 years.

“We have tremendous gratitude for Kevin’s leadership of the Cleveland Browns over the last six seasons,” Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam said Monday in a statement via ESPN. “He is a good football coach and an even better person. We appreciate all his hard work and dedication to our organization but our results over the last two seasons have not been satisfactory, and we believe a change at the head coaching position is necessary.”

The Browns also announced that they will retain Andrew Berry as the general manager. The coaching change comes only two seasons after he won his second NFL Coach of the Year award and less than two years after he inked a contract extension.

Although his time in Cleveland has come to a close, Stefanski is expected to be a candidate for several other openings, as he will likely interview with the New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans.

The Browns will head into the offseason needing to address their quarterback situation as well. Deshaun Watson remains under contract, while rookie Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders received starting opportunities in 2025.

Time will tell what lies ahead in Cleveland in the coming months.
