Browns’ Myles Garrett makes bold statement ahead of Week 18

Cleveland Browns star pass rusher Myles Garrett remains on the verge of setting the single-season NFL sack record after his team upended the Pittsburgh Steelers 13-6 on Sunday.

After the game, Garrett voiced that he felt that the Steelers were more focused on game planning against him than winning the game.

“I mean, to an extent. I feel like they were more worried about keeping me away from Aaron [Rodgers] than getting the win, and I think that’s what came back to bite him,” Garrett said via ESPN. “So, they’ll have to fight it out with Baltimore next week. But I’m just proud of the guys for fighting and getting this one. That’s the main thing. And I’m always going to keep it that.”

Garrett was held without a sack, leaving him at 22 this season, sitting just one shy of breaking the record shared by Hall of Famer Michael Strahan and Steelers pass rusher T.J. Watt. The Browns’ All-Pro had his opportunities against the Steelers, recording three quarterback pressures and nearly hitting Rodgers a few instances, but he got the pass off before contact.

The loss puts the Steelers in a tough spot in the season finale against the Baltimore Ravens, as the winner will secure the AFC North division title.

Meanwhile, Garrett will have one last opportunity to etch himself in the record books in Week 18 on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals.

When asked if he’s confident about making history in the season finale, he didn’t waver.

“Absolutely,” Garrett said. “Why shouldn’t I be?… Four more quarters, 60 more minutes. However you want to draw it up, it’ll get done.”
