Browns newcomer Kareem Hunt says he won’t ‘mess this up again’
Earlier this offseason, the Cleveland Browns took a chance on former Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt by bringing him on board with a one-year deal.
In the first few weeks of training camp, Hunt has voiced his appreciation for the opportunity. He touched upon the topic this week stating that it’s one that he will not do anything to mess it up, according to Ryan Isley of ESPN.
“I know I am not going to mess this up again,” Hunt said Wednesday after the team’s first OTA of the season.
Hunt was involved in a serious situation that saw video emerge of him pushing and kicking a woman at his Cleveland residence back in 2018. This situation has resulted in him receiving an eight-game suspension from the NFL due to violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
With the Browns giving him a shot to play next season, it could allow him to continue his career for the long haul. However, it’s all based on his behavior off the field that will dictate how long he will play.
Hunt has proven with his play in his brief NFL career that he can be one of the top running backs in the league. He earned the Offensive Rookie of the Year award after leading the league in rushing in 2017. He was off to another impressive campaign last season until the situation unfolded.
Ultimately, it’s on him to prove that he can keep his personal life in order with his decision making off the field.
