Buccaneers sign QB Josh Rosen to practice squad
Coming out of UCLA a few years ago, quarterback Josh Rosen was thought to be one of the promising young players in the NFL with a potentially bright future ahead. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone as planned for the former 10th overall pick of the Arizona Cardinals as he is now a practice squad player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
After being released by the Miami Dolphins, Rosen was looking for a new team once again and it didn’t take long with the Buccaneers bringing him in as an insurance policy at the quarterback position with 43-year-old Tom Brady currently under center. Rosen is officially a member of the team’s practice squad, via ESPN.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed free-agent quarterback Josh Rosen to their practice squad, a source confirmed to ESPN.
Rosen didn’t get much of a fair shake with the Cardinals with the team drafting Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall pick a year after taking the former UCLA star at No. 10. He was then traded to the Dolphins and seemed to have a solid chance of becoming a franchise player in Miami, but that obviously never came to fruition with head coach Brian Flores having other plans for the position by drafting Tua Tagovailoa at No. 5 in this year’s NFL Draft.
Fortunately for Rosen, he can learn behind arguably the best quarterback in NFL history in Brady while waiting for his opportunity. Whether that opportunity will ever come with the Buccaneers or any other team in the league remains to be seen, but he’s at least employed for the time being.
