Chargers’ Khalil Mack remains determined to win a Super Bowl
Veteran linebacker Khalil Mack recently agreed to a new deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. Even though Mack admittedly considered signing with other teams in NFL free agency, he chose to remain with the Chargers.
Mack explained his reasoning for signing a one-year deal with Los Angeles rather than looking to sign a lucrative long-term contract, via ESPN.
“I had to be fair in the approach to things and not making it about just finances and all the different things,” said Mack, who signed a one-year, $18 million fully guaranteed contract. “I tried to make it more so just about winning ball games.”
It seems that Mack is no longer driven by a desire to make the most money possible during his NFL career, even though $18 million for one season isn’t too bad for a 34-year-old linebacker.

The veteran star is motivated about winning a Super Bowl and playing in important games for the rest of his playing days.
“Just not wanting to give up on that goal and that ambition that I have ever since I stepped into the league,” Mack said. “I knew I wanted to play in important games and win a Super Bowl.”
No one is more ecstatic about Mack returning for the 2025 NFL season than Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.
“Man, it means everything,” Defensive coordinator Jesse Minter said of having Mack back. “Khalil is one of the best ever do it, but really just the type of person he is, the type of leadership that he brings.
“I have great appreciation for how he operates. I take things from him every day.”
Although Mack is back for another season in Los Angeles, he’ll no longer be playing alongside Joey Bosa, who will now suit up for the Buffalo Bills.
Both the Chargers and Bills are expected to be forces to be reckoned with in the AFC once again in 2025.
