Chargers sign former Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins
The Los Angeles Chargers continued their busy offseason by adding veteran running back J.K. Dobbins to a one-year deal.
The Ohio State product has been plagued by injury throughout his NFL career. As a result, he’s only played in 24 regular season games in his first four years.
This includes missing 42 of 51 games over the last three years. He missed virtually all of last season due to a torn Achilles, which ruled him out of 16 games.

When healthy, he’s proven to be a productive and effective factor out of the backfield. He holds a career 5.8 yards per carry average, which ranks the highest among running backs with at least 200 carries since 2020.
The problem has been him staying on the field. The Chargers present an opportunity for him to prove that he can stay healthy and be a huge offensive factor.
The departure of Austin Ekeler opens the door for Dobbins to play a significant role and potentially earn the starting spot next season.
He will be reuniting with his Baltimore Ravens teammate Gus Edwards to lead the Chargers backfield. Dobbins will also play under a familiar face in Greg Roman, who will serve as the offensive coordinator as he did in Baltimore.

The Chargers are making a low-risk, high-reward move by adding Dobbins. He’s proven to be a game-changing factor.
He showcased that in his rookie year with 805 rushing yards while averaging 6.0 yards per carry. He also set a Ravens’ rookie record with nine rushing touchdowns.
Dobbins showcased more of that same play in 2022 when he notched 520 rushing yards and averaged 5.7 yards per carry in eight games played. He will get a fair chance to demonstrate that in Los Angeles in hopes of getting his career back on track.
