Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce might not be done yet
Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce, who has put together a first-ballot Hall of Fame career, may have another chapter that extends into another year.
Kelce is in the final year of his two-year, $34.25 million contract, but has left the door open to playing another year, as he laid out that he will decide by next March.
“I want to give the Chiefs a good opportunity, whether I come back or not — or whether they want me back or not,” Kelce said via ESPN. “I’d like to make that decision before they’ve got to get draft picks and free agency opens to fill the roster appropriately.
“All that will be at the end of the season. I won’t be thinking about it until then.”
It would mark Kelce’s 14th season, which would all be spent with the Chiefs. The 36-year-old is amid another highly productive campaign, on pace for his eighth time surpassing 1,000 receiving yards, which would extend his league mark for most such regular seasons for a tight end.
Kelce holds numerous NFL records, including the most playoff receptions (174), the most postseason games with 100 receiving yards (nine), and the most career postseason games with one or more receiving touchdowns (15).

He also holds the playoff mark for most receiving touchdowns by a tight end (20) and most career receiving yards by a tight end (1,416).
Kelce remains a key factor in the Chiefs’ offense as Patrick Mahomes’ security blanket in the passing game. If he were to play another season, it would likely mean his next contract would be his last of his illustrious career.
