Colts fully intend to play QB Andrew Luck this season regardless of record
The Indianapolis Colts are currently going through the motions as they struggle through another disappointing season. The once-prominent force in the AFC seems more like a rebuilding team without their star quarterback Andrew Luck under center as they sport a 2-5 record heading into Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Luck has yet to play a game this season, and many have speculated that he might not suit up this season leaving Jacoby Brissett to lead the charge. Apparently, that’s not the case as Indianapolis fully intends to play Luck this season when he’s ready to go, via ESPN’s Mike Wells.
The Indianapolis Colts still have every intention of having quarterback Andrew Luck play this season no matter what their record is once he’s cleared, coach Chuck Pagano said Wednesday.
“Nothing has changed,” Pagano said.
Whether the Colts brass stick to this stance remains to be seen. Brissett has been a formidable replacement thus far, but not a game changer in terms of being able to lead the team to wins week in and week out.
The Colts are currently sitting in last place in the AFC South but are only a few games back with the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars atop the division at 4-3. Although the division title isn’t entirely out of reach, it is a stretch to assume the team completely turning it around once Luck returns.
It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out in Indianapolis as the team tries to figure out how to handle the situation and if Luck will truly be back under center at some point this season.
