Commanders HC Dan Quinn makes interesting comments about Jayden Daniels
After reaching the NFC Championship Game, the Washington Commanders took a significant dip in 2025, falling well short of the playoffs.
Injuries played a major factor with Jayden Daniels missing most of the season, but there were notable changes the Commanders felt needed to be made to push the team back in the right direction.
One of which was changing offensive coordinators, as Washington will have David Blough take over at the position following Kliff Kingsbury’s exit and quick landing with the Los Angeles Rams.
Head coach Dan Quinn said he is hopeful the change could help unlock more from Daniels in his third season.
“Jayden’s a big part of our thinking in all the things we do,” Quinn said via ESPN. “He wasn’t a part of the staff selection, but he drives a lot of the thinking and how we can feature him and where it goes. Having the ability to connect with him, that’s certainly a big deal for us.
“It wasn’t the deciding factor, but it certainly was a good factor.”
Washington’s future lies on Daniels’ shoulders as he has showcased himself to be a game-changer when healthy. In his stellar rookie campaign, he threw for 3,568 yards with 25 touchdown passes, along with recording 891 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

His steady play guided the Commanders to a 12-5 record and pushed them toward the NFC Championship Game. He excelled in the postseason, notching 822 passing yards with five touchdowns, along with 135 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Time will tell if this coaching staff change will help elevate Daniels to the next level.
