Cowboys’ chances of signing Odell Beckham Jr. getting slim
Over the last few weeks, Odell Beckham Jr.’s free agency has remained a prominent topic of discussion around the Dallas Cowboys.
The former Pro Bowl wideout hasn’t moved closer to a decision, while his recent comments suggest that he could stay off the field for the rest of the 2022 season. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones further diminished the possibility after stating that the chances are growing slimmer than it occurs.
“As of this morning we don’t have anything,” Jones said via ESPN. “The reality is though that time is moving on down the road relative to playing in the playoffs and so every day diminishes our chances of going forward.”
Beckham has made it quite clear that he has no interest in playing in the remainder of the regular season. He is still recovering from a second torn ACL that he suffered in Super Bowl 56, which alone has led to limited interest in his services.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys have seemingly moved forward with finding wide receiver help by signing former Pro Bowl wideout T.Y. Hilton for the rest of the season.

Jones will continue to monitor the situation, but it doesn’t appear that Beckham will wear a Cowboys anytime soon. If the star wideout is a free agent next offseason, Dallas, along with several other teams such as the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills, will be in the mix to land him.
More than anything else, Jones’ comments signal to Cowboys fans that they shouldn’t hold their breath for Beckham to make his way to Dallas.
