Cowboys star Dak Prescott wants to be a ‘Cowboys forever’
One of the underlying storylines that have continued to follow the Dallas Cowboys has been Dak Prescott’s contract situation.
Prescott is set to enter the final year of his rookie deal without a new contract in place. However, there has continued to be positive dialogue around this matter with him now stating that he wants to be a Cowboy for his entire career, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.com.
“I mean, I want to be a Cowboy forever,” Prescott said Wednesday night at Dr. Pepper Ballpark, where the quarterback and his teammates were raising money for the Salvation Army through the Reliant Home Run Derby. “I think the people that are doing the deal feel the same way, so to me, it’s no rush. I know it will get done.”
Prescott has a clear and strong desire to stay with the Cowboys for the long haul. He has had a tremendous amount of success with the franchise that includes a pair of division titles and two trips to the divisional round of the playoffs.
His play has brought stability to the franchise as he and running back Ezekiel Elliott and wide receiver Amari Cooper have become key pieces to the puzzle. Each of these players all possesses similar contract situations.
What this may all be is just a matter of time before the team works out long-term contracts with each of these players to keep them for the next several years. The Cowboys could foreseeably have this all worked out in the coming months before next season.
