Davante Adams agrees to four-year deal with Packers
The Green Bay Packers have a knack for keeping a talented receiving corps at the disposal of superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Along with Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb under contract for the next few years, the storied NFL franchise has reportedly agreed to terms with Davante Adams on an extension.
According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, the Packers have acted on Rodgers’ wishes to keep Adams in the fold.
A little more than two weeks after Aaron Rodgers made a plea for the Green Bay Packers to sign wide receiver Davante Adams, general manager Ted Thompson got the deal done.
Not only will the Packers being keeping Adams in Green Bay for the next four seasons, but he’s getting a considerable payday for his breakout season, via Demovsky.
Adams, 25, signed a contract extension, the team announced Friday. The deal is for four years and $58.75 million, with $32 million guaranteed and an $18 million signing bonus, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Although the Packers have been knocked out of playoff contention this season, the team is expected to come back next year stronger than ever with a healthy and motivated Rodgers under center. Retaining Adams for the long-term will only make Rodgers that much happier as he aims for his second Super Bowl title.
In 14 games thus far, Adams caught 74 passes for 885 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Solid numbers once again for the 24-year-old who seems to be getting better and better with more time on the field.
Heading into the regular-season finale, the Packers will try to go out on a high note as they’re underdogs on the road against the division rival Detroit Lions.
