Denver Broncos need to make decision on starting QB
The Denver Broncos need to make a choice on their starting quarterback, whether it’s Drew Lock or Teddy Bridgewater.
It’s time for Vic Fangio to make a decision.
The Denver Broncos head coach is entering a pivotal season, as the third-year man is trying to get the franchise into the playoffs for the first time since 2015.
To get there, Fangio needs to name his starting quarterback and make the right choice.

His options? Incumbent Drew Lock, who started 13 games in his second campaign but led the league in interceptions (15) against 16 touchdown passes. Lock completed 57.3 percent of his attempts, down from 64.1 percent during his five starts as a rookie.
Then there’s Teddy Bridgewater, who came over via trade this winter from the Carolina Panthers. Bridgewater, who is playing for his fifth team in as many seasons, was decent for Carolina in 2020, throwing for 15 touchdowns and 11 touchdowns with 3,733 yards on 7.6 yards per carry.
However, despite having years of tape on Bridgewater and Lock, a full training camp and two preseason games behind them, the Broncos are still weighing their options. On Tuesday, Fangio spoke to reporters, updating where the team is on the move, per NFL.com:
“It’s pretty damn close. I mean, you guys have seen it. I’ve asked a few of you a few times and neither one of you [has] come up with an answer. So, it is close. I think it’s close for a good reason. They both have played well. The good news of this competition is we’ve got two quarterbacks that we feel we can go win with.”

Frankly, Denver has to make a decision in the next few days. Whoever ends up getting the nod needs to have reps with the first-team on an exclusive basis in practice, with Week 1 looming on Sept. 12 when the Broncos travel to take on the New York Giants.
While the quarterback situation remains uncertain, the rest of Denver’s roster has an argument for one of the league’s best. The defense is loaded with Bradley Chubb, Von Miller and Shelby Harris in the front seven, backed up by Justin Simmons, Bryce Callahan and Patrick Surtain II in the secondary. Offensively, the weaponry is solid in receivers KJ Hamler, Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick, along with tight end Noah Fant.
If Fangio can find a bit of magic at quarterback, Denver has a chance to be quite good. It starts with the right decision.
