Derrius Guice: One NFL Team Asked If I Liked Men

Derrius Guice discovered recently during the NFL combine in Indianapolis that odd questions have become commonplace. Guice, the former star running back with the LSU Tigers said one of the NFL teams asked him if he liked men, while another asked him if his mother was a prostitute.

Guice spoke about the conversations he had with teams while he was being interviews Wednesday night on SiriusXM NFL.

He called the experience pretty crazy. He added that some people try to test your reaction by getting into your head. He said he went into one room and was asked if he liked men just so the team could see his reaction. Then he said he went into another room and they ask questions about members of his family and then said they heard that his mother sells herself.

Guice would not say the names of the NFL teams that had asked those types of questions. A reliable source however did say that Guice was asked the question if he liked men.

The NFL described the questions as being disappointing and inappropriate and was looking into the matter.

However, asking draft prospects in the NFL about what their sexual preference is, is nothing new, the NFL has reprimanded teams previously for doing just that.

In 2016, Marquand Manuel an assistant coach with the Atlanta Falcons asked Eli Apple if he was gay during a combine meeting. At a later date Manuel apologized and Dan Quinn the head coach for the Falcons said the organization had taken measures to ensure that it would not take place again.

In 2013, the NFL conducted an investigation after three prospects said they had been asked questions that had touched on sexual preference.

In 2010, then GM of the Dolphins Jeff Ireland apologized to then prospect Dez Bryant when he asked him during a visit prior to the draft if his mother was a prostitute.

It is expected that Guice will be drafted during the first round after he rushed for 26 touchdowns combined over the last two seasons for the Tigers.
