Dolphins sign Pro Bowler Calais Campbell
The Miami Dolphins beefed up their defensive front by signing former Pro Bowler Calais Campbell to a deal.
The 37-year-old is coming off a productive 2023 campaign with the Atlanta Falcons, during which he registered 56 tackles, 6.5 sacks, a forced fumble, 17 quarterback hits, and 10 tackles for loss while playing in all 17 regular-season games.
Campbell brings some much-needed veteran presence to the Dolphins, especially with outside linebackers Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb each recovering from significant injuries. Chubb tore his ACL in Week 17 while Phillips tore his Achilles tendon in Week 12.

The Dolphins have spent much of the offseason securing their defensive line by signing pass rusher Shaq Barrett while drafting Chop Robinson and Mo Kamara.
Miami hopes that Campbell can step into a significant role and stabilize the defensive front while Chubb and Phillips return to the fold.
Campbell has put together an impressive career, notching 105.5 sacks, which is tied with Elvis Dumervil for 32nd on the all-time list. He has tallied at least six sacks 13 times in his first 16 seasons.

The Dolphins are coming off back-to-back wild card round playoff exits. Miami lost a disappointing 26-7 to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The franchise has become a playoff constant in head coach Mike McDaniels’ first two seasons, but are hoping to take the next step toward Super Bowl contention.
Much of that will depend on the offense led by Tua Tagovailoa, who has notably slimmed down over the offseason to better prepare for the upcoming season.
