Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill admits he ‘could have been better’ during police incident

In the days following the Miami-Dade police officers detaining Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill before Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, there remains plenty of dialogue around the situation.

Tyreek Hill has since voiced that he would have handled the matter differently.

“My whole life is all about accountability. How can I get better?” Hill said Wednesday via ESPN. “I will say I could have been better. I could have let down my window in that instant. But the thing about me is, man, I don’t want attention. I don’t want [there] to be cameras out, phones on you in that moment — but at the end of the day, I’m human. I’ve got to follow rules. I got to do what everyone else would do.

“Now does that give them the right to literally beat the dog out of me? Absolutely not. But at the end of the day, I wish I could go back and do things a bit differently.”

The situation occurred three hours before the Dolphins’ game as Hill was pulled over for speeding. The body camera footage displayed Hill being slow roll down his car window on request from the police.

The situation quickly escalated. One officer, identified as Danny Torres, took Hill out of his car and handcuffed him face down on the pavement. Hill, through his lawyer, Julius Collins, released a statement on Tuesday calling for Torres to immediately be terminated by the Miami-Dade police department
