Dwayne Bowe Pulled Over For Speeding, Arrested For Possession

Really, Dwayne Bowe? REALLY?!?

Really, Dwayne Bowe? REALLY?!?

Despite being 9-0 and the only undefeated team left in the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs have not been feeling the love outside the friendly confines of Arrowhead Stadium.

With many writing them off as overachievers that have lucked out with an easy schedule, their game against the Denver Broncos this weekend has taken on even more importance.

Not only is the lead in the AFC West on the line when the division rivals face off at Mile High on Sunday night, but so is the Chiefs chance to legitimize themselves in the national spotlight and silence the naysayers in the process.

Even if they are relishing the role of the underdog they’ve been cast in, there’s simply no denying the magnitude of the game.Which is why Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe couldn’t have possibly picked a worse time to get himself in trouble.

This morning Fox 4 KC reported that overnight Bowe had been arrested for speeding and possession of a controlled substance in Riverside, Missouri. The officer reported smelling “a strong odor of marijuana” emanating from the vehicle when he pulled him over.

Turns out there was a pretty good reason that Bowe’s 2011 Audi A8 stunk like the inside of a bong. Inside a black bag the officer found two containers that “had 6.6 grams and 3.8 grams of what [he] believed was a controlled substance.”

Another 6.4 grams were found in various places within the vehicle.

After the search Bowe and George Thompson, his passenger, were taken into custody and booked at the Riverside Police Department. A third person in the car was not charged. Both Bowe and Thompson posted bond and were released; they’ll have to appear in court on December 18th.

At this point it’s not known if Bowe will be playing this weekend. The NFL has a policy of holding off on discipline in situations like these until they play themselves out in court, so they won’t be intervening.

Which means the decision will be left to the Chiefs and will likely be made sooner, rather than later.
