Eagles brass ‘wouldn’t hesitate’ to sign Carson Wentz to long-term deal
In the last year, there has been plenty of movement around the league with massive extensions being given to several marquee quarterbacks.
One of the next on the list could quickly be Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. In light of that, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has voiced during an interview with SportsRadio 94WIP that that team won’t hesitate to work out a long-term extension with Wentz.
Howie Roseman says the Eagles are “planning” to do a long-term deal with Carson Wentz and if the deal was right “we wouldn’t hesitate.”
The Eagles have already made the decision to pick up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal for the 2020 campaign. There have been questions regarding his long-term future with the franchise given that he has dealt with significant injuries over the last two seasons.
He suffered a torn ACL and MCL late in the 2017 season and has missed the last couple of regular season games this past year due to a back fracture. It has raised questions about his durability.
However, he has shown that he can be a highly productive player that can be a game-changing talent on the field. Wentz had been putting together an MVP-caliber campaign in 2017 prior to his knee injury.
With the Eagles already hedging toward working out a long-term extension with Wentz, the only question that truly remains is how much both sides will work out in his next contract. Only time will tell how things will unfold in the coming months.
