Eagles legend Donovan McNabb believes he’s a ‘Hall of Famer’
The Philadelphia Eagles have been a team competing as an elite franchise the last few years and finally getting their elusive Super Bowl title recently with Nick Foles at the helm for the injured Carson Wentz. Before Foles led this team to victory, Donovan McNabb was the franchise’s best player under center after taking the team to a Super Bowl and numerous NFC title games.
Lately, McNabb has been very local about his former team and his legacy. The longtime Eagles gunslinger recently made a controversial comment about his Hall of Fame candidacy and taking a shot a Dallas Cowboys legend, Troy Aikman, in the process.
“Absolutely,” McNabb told TMZ Sports. “I’m not hesitating on that. I am a Hall of Famer. My numbers speak for itself. … My numbers are better than Troy Aikman, but he has Super Bowl rings and he’s played with Hall of Famers as well.”
The one glaring difference between McNabb and Aikman is the fact the former Eagles star failed to win a Super Bowl title. Aikman, however, won three in a row at one point in his storied career with the Cowboys.
Although winning Super Bowl titles isn’t a required to be inducted in the Hall of Fame with Dan Marino being the perfect example of that fact, McNabb using Aikman as an example as to why he should be in probably wasn’t wise. It remains to be seen whether McNabb will ultimately get the call, but some may think a bit differently about him after this statement.
