Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount going ‘straight enemy mode’ against Patriots
Last year, veteran running back LeGarrette Blount had a breakout season with the New England Patriots as he rushed for a career-high 18 touchdowns while winning his first Super Bowl title under Bill Belichick.
One year later, Blount has a completely different task at hand. Blount will try to help lead his Philadelphia Eagles over his former team in Super Bowl LII. The 31-year-old back will head into this matchup with his old team with a certain distinct mentality, via ESPN’s Tim McManus.
“Straight enemy mode,” he said. “Ain’t no friends, no homies, none of that. We know what we’re going to do; they know what they’re going to do. We’ve got the same goal in mind. It ain’t no hard feelings. It just is what it is.”
Unlike like last season with the Patriots, Blount and his squad will be the underdogs. Philadelphia is the biggest underdog in the Super Bowl since 2009. Although there are some health concerns for the Patriots in regards the conditions of Tom Brady (hand) and Rob Gronkowski (concussion), the defending champions are still favored to win it all and for good reason.
The Eagles will take arguably one of the most successful sports franchises in history without their superstar quarterback Carson Wentz (torn ACL) and doubts as to whether they’ll be able to keep up with Brady and company. Philadelphia has defied the odds up to this point and has embraced the underdog role throughout the entire playoffs thus far, but New England is another beast entirely who won’t go down without a fight.
