Former Saints QB Drew Brees has no plans to make an NFL comeback

It’s been more than four months since former New Orleans Saints star quarterback Drew Brees officially announced his retirement.

Brees continues to remain around football, but now in a different capacity as a studio analyst on NBC Sports’ Football Night in America and a color commentator for Notre Dame Football games this upcoming season.

It didn’t take long for Brees to put bed any chance of him attempting to make a comeback for the 2021 season.

“I better get my butt going if that’s the case,” Brees told Tirico via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “There is a saying that if you don’t use it, you lose it. That’s the truth, my arm is killing me because I haven’t been training to throw. I actually feel worse now than at any other point in my career. I may have one throw, one series, one drive.”

It’s quite clear that Drew Brees has fully embraced his retirement from the NFL after 20 seasons. He has no desire to get back onto the field but does want to remain around the game in his new gig.

The 42-year-old will continue to be linked to a potential comeback regardless of what he says. If the Saints struggle this upcoming season, it will crop up chatter concerning his availability.

His connection with the franchise will always remain strong, and his presence will continue to stay prevalent. Things could always change, but it certainly sounds like Brees holds no interest in extending his illustrious career another season.
