Giants decide to part ways with Brian Daboll
A day after the New York Giants fell short 24-20 to the Chicago Bears in Week 10 action, the organization parted ways with head coach Brian Daboll.
The sudden change in direction puts assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka as the interim coach.
“The past few seasons have been nothing short of disappointing, and we have not met our expectations for this franchise,” Giants co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch said Monday in a joint statement via ESPN. “We understand the frustrations of our fans, and we will work to deliver a significantly improved product.”
After leading the Giants to the playoffs in his first year with a 9-7-1 record, the team holds an 11-33 mark over the last three seasons.
New York hasn’t made any notable progress toward finding sustained success under Daboll. The Giants sit in last place in the NFC East with a 2-8 record, having lost their last four games. It marked the third consecutive year the team has won just two of its first 10 games.

Despite Daboll being let go, the Giants will retain Joe Schoen as the team’s general manager and will guide the search for the next head coach.
“We feel like Joe has assembled a good young nucleus of talent, and we look forward to its development,” Mara said. “Unfortunately, the results over the past three years have not been what any of us want. We take full responsibility for those results and look forward to the kind of success our fans expect.”
New York is set to host the Green Bay Packers in Week 11 action.
