Giants QB Jaxson Dart expected to play vs. Patriots
After missing the last two games, New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is set to play in Week 13 action on Monday night against the New England Patriots.
Dart cleared the concussion protocol on Thursday, paving the way for him to make his return.
“I’m ready. I’ve been waiting for it,” Dart said after practice on Friday via ESPN. “Obviously these primetime games are the ones you have circled on your calendar. I’m excited to go out there, compete at a high level and do everything in my power to rally these guys to put our team in the best situation when the clock hits zero that we’re going to come out with a win.”
Dart suffered the injury against the Chicago Bears on Nov. 9, which marked the fourth time in his first eight games played that he had been checked for a concussion.
In his absence, Jameis Winston started the last two games, nearly guiding the Giants to an upset win over the Detroit Lions last Sunday. It featured him throwing for 366 yards on 18 of 36 passes with two touchdown passes while adding a receiving touchdown.
New York is hoping that Dart can help the team break a franchise-worst 12-game road skid. That task will come with a daunting challenge against the Patriots, who have won their last nine straight games to boast the league’s best record at 10-2.
