Jaguars part ways with head coach Doug Pederson
A day after wrapping up a disappointing 2024 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars have parted ways with head coach Doug Pederson.
It ends a three-year tenure under Pederson, during which the Jaguars struggled to break through. They have a 22-29 regular-season record and a 1-1 postseason mark. After reaching the playoffs in Pederson’s first year, Jacksonville took steps backward, falling to a 4-13 record this past season.
“What is a complete overhaul of the franchise?” Khan via ESPN. “Health and wellness of the players, medical statistics, analysis, scouting, and a number of other elements along with contract administration, all of those areas we have really changed [and] improved certainly over the last four or five years. So to change all of that is almost like suicidal.”
“You’ve got 85 people working on that side [of the organization] and you say, ‘I’m going to get rid of them and find 85 new people that are going to be better than that?’ That’s like shooting yourself in the foot. I mean, we need to go to work on something that is broken, that needs to be fixed, and continually be improvingthings that are working.”
The Jaguars dealt with injuries throughout the season, but the franchise fell well short of playoff contention. Jacksonville ranked 21st in passing and 25th in yards per game. Meanwhile, the defense didn’t fare much better, ranking 31st in yards allowed per game and last in passing yards allowed.
