Jared Goff raves about Dan Campbell after Lions’ blowout win
The Detroit Lions showcased an offensive showing on Sunday in a blowout 44-22 bounce-back win over the Washington Commanders.
The standout scoring performance came with head coach Dan Campbell calling the plays for the first time instead of offensive coordinator John Morton.
The Lions’ strong outing featured a total of 546 offensive yards, 30 first downs, 8.0 yards per play and 226 rushing yards.
After the game, Pro Bowl quarterback Jared Goff raved about Campbell’s performance as the acting playcaller.
“It’s been a long time since he’s done it. … He was great,” Goff said via NFL.com. “He’s not just this rah-rah guy. He’s extremely smart.”
Goff put together another strong outing by completing 25-of-33 passes for 320 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions, and held a 135.9 passer rating.
Detroit looked every bit the part of a well-oiled machine with their offensive balance as running back Jahymir Gibbs led the charge in the running game with 142 rushing yards on 15 attempts with two touchdowns.
Gibbs also chipped in with three receptions for 30 receiving yards with a touchdown. Jameson Williams notched team highs with six receptions for 119 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Amon-Ra St. Brown recorded five catches for 58 receiving yards and a touchdown. Brown currently ranks second in the league with eight receiving touchdowns.
The Lions still have an uphill battle to climb to catch the Green Bay Packers (5-2-1) for the NFC North division lead. Detroit is set to face the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday night.
