NFL schedule release garners massive attention

The NFL schedule is getting released on Thursday evening at 8 p.m. ET, and you can watch a two-hour show on either ESPN or NFL Network to get your fix.

Of course, we already know who is playing who, and where the games are being played. We just don’t know when and with what teams coming off byes, who will be on primetime, etc. It’s a fun little exercise that everybody does. They look at the slate of their favorite team and try to figure out exactly how many wins they can squeeze out of the docket.

It’s a waste of energy, but it’s damn fun, and maybe that salvages the process altogether.

Everything You Need to Bet on the NFL is Here

So on Thursday, the whole NFL schedule gets unveiled for the world to see. We know a few things, such as the Philadelphia Eagles will be hosting the customary opening Thursday night game at home. We also know that the Los Angeles Rams will be playing host to the Kansas City Chiefs on a Monday night game scheduled for Nov. 19 down in Mexico City.

Outside of that, everything is unconfirmed rumor and speculation, but only for a few more hours. Here are a few things that would be fun to see when the NFL schedule is laid on us…

The New England Patriots have to play the Pittsburgh Steelers late in the season again. Last year, the two teams hooked up for a classic in Week 15. This should happen again, likely with playoff seedings and perhaps home-field advantage in the AFC on the line.

Make sure the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers play both in primetime, and in Week 17 as well. The Chiefs and Chargers could very well be fighting for the AFC West this year, something they did back in 2017. Nobody wants to see the Denver Broncos against one of them come the final weekend.

In the NFC, make sure to do the same with the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers. For the last meeting, make sure it’s in Lambeau Field, because the elements can come into play. Nothing says December football like the snow coming down on the Packers and Aaron Rodgers in a big game.

Finally, the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams need to be featured prominently on the schedule. The two California rivals have been down for quite some time, and the two teams haven’t been good together since the 1980s. This should be brought back in full force, with one of the matchups coming very late in the year.
