NFL Week 13: 5 underdogs to bet on Sunday

We take a look at 5 of the best underdogs to bet against the spread heading into NFL Week 13.

5. New York Jets at Tennessee Titans (-7.5)

The Titans likely win this game, but they should never be favored by more than a touchdown. Tennessee has one of the more anemic offenses in the NFL, ranking 30th in passing yardage and only notching 32 explosive plays (20+ yards) all season. The Jets aren’t a juggernaut in their own right, but this is likely a low-scoring game that New York hangs around in. Tough to see Tennessee blowing out anybody with Marcus Mariota and Co.

4. Arizona Cardinals at Green Bay Packers (-14)

The Packers are laying two touchdowns this weekend against Arizona. Why? The Cardinals are a terrible team at 2-9 with a limited offense and suspect defense, but what has Green Bay done to make anybody believe it will win by 14 or more points? The Packers barely beat the two-win San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field a few weeks back, a team that the Cardinals swept. Green Bay will almost definitely win, but winning by a pair of touchdowns? Big ask for a bad team.

3. Los Angeles Rams (-10) at Detroit Lions

Again, this is a double-digit line and while the Lions aren’t a good team by any means, they also should be able to cover 10 points at home. Detroit probably can’t take advantage of it in terms of actually winning the game straight up, but it has a 10-day break before playing this game after losing on Thanksgiving to the Chicago Bears at Ford Field. We’ve already seen the Lions bow out of the playoff race, but one would imagine they’ll look to play spoiler on Sunday.

2. Carolina Panthers (-3.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Panthers absolutely have to win this game after falling to 6-5 over the past three weeks. After beginning with six wins in eight games, Carolina has fallen apart with losses to the Steelers, Lions and Seahawks, putting it in real danger of missing the postseason. If the Buccaneers have anything to say about it, that’s exactly what is going to happen in NFL Week 13. Tampa Bay is out of the mix at 4-7, but it has one of the more potent offenses in the league behind DeSean Jackson and Mike Evans. If the Buccaneers are clicking, they could win this one at home.

1. Cleveland Browns at Houston Texans (-6)

The Texans are the better team, but the Browns have found real life — and an offense — since Hue Jackson and Todd Haley were fired. Houston has won eight straight and is hoping to play its way into both the playoffs and a bye week. For Cleveland, the postseasons a faint possibility at 4-6-1, but the hope flickers enough to motivate. This could be one of the most entertaining games of the week.
