NFL Week 14 2022: A case for each underdog

Taking a glance at the NFL Week 14 lines, there are ample underdogs with a good chance to cover and perhaps outright win this weekend.

Las Vegas Raiders (-6) at Los Angeles Rams

The Rams might be starting Baker Mayfield under center. Certainly, that’s better than Jon Wolford and Bryce Perkins.

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills (-9)

The Jets have already beaten the Bills this season, largely because the defense is excellent and New York is familiar with Buffalo as a divisional opponent.

Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals (-6)

Cleveland has beaten Cincinnati each of the past five matchups, mostly because the Browns have been able to give Joe Burrow problems while running the ball effectively.

Houston Texans at Dallas Cowboys (-17)

The Texans’ only hope is forcing a few turnovers and trying to keep this within a couple of touchdowns. Not going to be easy.

Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions (-1)

The Vikings are 10-2, and the Lions are 5-7. Somehow, Detroit is laying points. Minnesota is the better team, straight up.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans (-3.5)

Tennessee is the better team, but the Titans don’t blow teams out. Jacksonville should be able to hang tough on the road.

Philadelphia Eagles (-7) at New York Giants

New York is trying to shore up its chances at an NFC wild card spot, breaking a three-game winless streak. The Eagles arena easy pickings, but they aren’t as motivated as the Giants.

Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers (-3)

Baltimore can win even with Tyler Huntley and not Lamar Jackson under center. The Ravens’ defense isn’t great, but it’s good enough to stress rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers (-3.5)

Tom Brady vs. Brock Purdy.

Carolina Panthers at Seattle Seahawks (-3.5)

The Panthers are coming off their bye week, and they have a decent defense. There’s certainly a path for Carolina to cover.

Kansas City Chiefs (-9) at Denver Broncos

Denver can play defense, and the Chiefs have a long history of not blowing out inferior opponents. This could be a touchdown game.

Miami Dolphins (-3) at Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers know if they lose this game, their season might be over. This is at home against a team which has been away from home for over a week.

New England Patriots (-1) at Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals are the more talented team, and they’re coming off a bye week with the Patriots coming across the country.
