NFL Week 14 schedule: 5 best games this Sunday

Looking at the NFL Week 14 schedule, these five games are can’t-miss material come Sunday afternoon and evening.

5. Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions (-2)

This might come as a surprise to some people, since the Vikings are a robust 10-2 and the Lions are only 5-7. However, Detroit has played much better over the past month, winning three of four. Meanwhile, Minnesota is trying to clinch the NFC North with a win, and could do so with a sweep of the Lions. If Detroit wins, however, it becomes viable in the NFC playoff picture with only four games remaining.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers (-3.5)

Brock Purdy vs. Tom Brady doesn’t exactly scream headliner. In fact, normally it would call for the Buccaneers to be favored by 20 points. However, Purdy is on a San Francisco team which simply needs him to hand the ball to Christian McCaffrey and throw quickly — and accurately —  to tight end George Kittle and receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk. Can Tampa do enough offensively to score on the Niners? Hard to say. Should be a low-scoring affair.

3. Philadelphia Eagles (-7) at New York Giants

Huge game for both sides in the NFC East. Philadelphia is 11-1 and trying to stay two games ahead of the hard-charging Dallas Cowboys, who host the one-win Houston Texans this week. As for the Giants, they need to win or they’ll drop into a tie for the final wild card slot with the Washington Commanders. If New York can pull the home upset, it’ll be a full game ahead with the two sides facing off in Week 15. Enormous playoff implications here.

2. New York Jets at Buffalo Bills (-10)

The Bills are back in the driver’s seat for the top seed in the AFC, but it won’t be easy to maintain. While the Kansas City Chiefs — who are also 9-3 — have one of the league’s easiest remaining schedules, Buffalo has one of the toughest, and it starts at home with the Jets. New York already beat the Bills once this season, and now have an upgrade under center in Mike White. Can White go into Buffalo and handle Josh Allen? Huge task, but not impossible.

1. Miami Dolphins (-3) at Los Angeles Chargers

This bad boy was flexed into Sunday night, and rightfully so. We get to see Justin Herbert and Tua Tagovailoa do battle in a critical tilt. Miami is 8-4 and trying to sow up a playoff berth while keeping touch in the AFC East with Buffalo, while at 6-6, the Chargers are simply trying to make the playoffs for the first time in Herbert’s career.
