NFL Week 5 odds and lines: Case for every favorite to cover

Week 5 of the 2020 NFL season is here, and we’re breaking down all of the lines, looking at why the favorites could pay off.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-5.5) at Chicago Bears

Tom Brady threw five touchdown passes on Sunday. Nick Foles and Mitch Trubisky might not throw five touchdown passes in October.

Arizona Cardinals (-6.5) at New York Jets

Have you see the Jets. Arizona has lost two straight and is desperate for a win. This ought to be good tonic.

Buffalo Bills (-8.5) at Tennessee Titans

Interesting game. Both are undefeated, but Tennessee is coming off a COVID-induced bye week. Will the Titans be without a litany of players? If so, could be a huge break for Buffalo.

Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons (-3.5)

The Falcons have a solid offense, and they’ve had a few games slip through their grasp. At some juncture, they’l shut the proverbial door.

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens (-13.5)

Baltimore crushes bad teams. The Ravens will score at will against Cincinnati and blitz Joe Burrow into oblivion.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans (-6)

Bill O’Brien can’t hurt the Texans any more.

Los Angeles Rams (-9) at Washington Football Team

The Rams are coming off a poor performance against the Giants. Look for a tough week of practice to result in a much better showing this weekend against Washington.

Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs (-11.5)

Kansas City just beat the Patriots by 16 points and played horrid offense. The Chiefs will bounce back, and that’s awful news for the Raiders, who are allowing 30 points per game.

Philadelphia Eagles at Pittsburgh Steelers (-7)

The Eagles are incredibly banged-up offensively, and the Steelers have the league’s best defensive personnel, coming off a bye, at home.

Miami Dolphins at San Francisco 49ers (-8.5)

The 49ers could be getting Jimmy Garoppolo back to give them a healthy offense for the first time all season. Miami has struggled. to stop anybody, and coming across the country to see the Niners won’t help.

Denver Broncos at New England Patriots (-11)

Brett Rypien isn’t going into Foxborough and hanging with Bill Belichick. It was hard enough for Patrick Mahomes.

Indianapolis Colts (-2.5) at Cleveland Browns

The league’s best defense through four weeks? Indy. Baker Mayfield will struggle when he’s throwing on second and third-and-long.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys (-9.5)

New York can’t score. The Cowboys can’t stop anybody. Something gives Sunday, and smart money says the vastly superior team figures it out.

Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks (-7)

Seattle has the MVP through four weeks in RUSSELL WILSON, a hoard of weapons and ample confidence. Minnesota is desperate, but its defense has been hideous.

Los Angeles Chargers at New Orleans Saints (-7.5)

Seems like the offense should get Michael Thomas back for Monday night. That’ll help Drew Brees tremendously, who has been uneven over the first month.
