NFL Week 6 rapid reaction: 5 takeaway from Sunday’s action

NFL Week 6 provided a few surprises, plenty of statements and development to consider going into late October.

5. The Jets might just go 0-16

After losing 24-0 to the Miami Dolphins on in NFL Week 6, the possibility of going 0-16 for New York is becoming all the more real. Barring a total shocker, the Jets will get to 0-7 over the next two weeks. It has a home date against the Buffalo Bills followed by a Week 8 clash at Arrowhead Stadium with the Kansas City Chiefs. There’s a long way to go, but the Jets could be headed towards history.

4. The Vikings should be considering all options

No, Kirk Cousins isn’t going to be benched of traded — look at his contract and the depth chart. However, general manager Rick Spielman should be considering any trades he can make to acquire draft capital. Minnesota has an expensive roster. One that isn’t going to be contending for a Super Bowl in the short-term future. If the Vikings can get something significant for safety Anthony Harris or even tackle Riley Reiff, it’s time to make the move.

3. Dallas is going to win the NFC East

Odd to say considering the Cowboys didn’t play on Sunday, but here we are. Even without quarterback Dak Prescott for the remainder of the season, Dallas still has the best signal-caller in the division in Andy Dalton. The Cowboys’ defense is an embarrassment, but the offense has weapons galore with Ezekiell Elliott, Michael Gallup, CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper. The rest of the division is a joke, with the New York Giants barely able to beat the Washington Football Team, and the Philadelphia Eagles falling to 1-4-1. For Dallas, seven wins does it.

2. Tampa Bay isn’t going to be an afterthought

The Buccaneers were given a ton of national run this offseason after signing quarterback Tom Brady and his friend Rob Gronkowski. However, some of the luster was wearing off through the first five weeks after uneven play and a loss in Week 5 on national television to Nick Foles and the Chicago Bears. Now, though, after beating the Green Bay Packers by a 38-10 count, Tampa Bay appears primed to get rolling, potentially challenging for home-field advantage in the NFC. Look out for Brady and the Bucs.

1. The Titans are legitimate

Look, beating the one-win Houston Texans in overtime at home isn’t exactly a cause for celebration. And while it’s true Tennessee has beaten the Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos by a combined six points (three teams who have a total record of 4-13), the Titans are scoring more than 30 points per game and Ryan Tannehill is playing at a borderline All-Pro level. Tennessee doesn’t get a ton of press, but it’s evident it is one of the best teams in the AFC.
