Oakland Raiders Sign WR Ryan Grant

On Wednesday, the Oakland Raiders signed wide receiver Ryan Grant who played during the 2018 season with the Indianapolis Colts. No terms on Grant’s deal with the Raiders were disclosed.

Grant is the newest addition to the revamped wide receiver corps with the Raiders joining Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams. Brown was acquired in a trade with the Steelers while Williams was signed as a free agent.

Grant, who is 28, struggled to find playing time in the Indianapolis offense in 2018. As a result, he quickly slid down the depth chart for receivers.

The Colts has anticipated that Grant would arrive at camp last season with additional motivation and be the answer to who would be the team’s second receiver behind T.Y. Hilton after the Ravens made the decision not sign the wide out after Baltimore said Grant failed his physical.

During most of the 2018 season, Grant was hobbled with an injury to his ankle and as the season moved along his role on the offense diminished. Grant finished the season with 35 receptions for 335 yards and just one touchdown.

Grant caught just nine passes for 66 yards during the second half of the season last year.

Prior to playing for the Ravens and Colts, Grant began his NFL career with the Washington Redskins where he played for four seasons and caught 84 passes for 986 yards and six touchdowns while appearing in 64 games.

The Oakland Raiders are hoping that the additions to their receivers’ corps will increase the offensive production of quarterback Derek Carr and make the Raiders dangerous against any NFL opponent.
